Home

So Jeremy and I have been toying with the idea of buying a home. Maybe it all started with all the radio commercials saying you could pay a mortgage payment less than you pay rent. Now is the time to buy. Interest rates the lowest they've been in YEARS!

So we began the annoying process of looking online signing up for outdated listings of homes in our area for less than $100,000 (most of the homes had been gone for a good 4 - 5 months)! We even met with a real estate agent. We found one!!

Sunset, Utah the neighborhood has been well cared for it is a rambler/ranch all brick 4 bedrooms 1 full bath and 3/4 of a bath 1684 sq/ft for a grand total off . . . $83,000 a 15 year loan would put us around $500.00 a month definitely manageable.

So we dig deeper and find that the city appraises it to be $133,000 (sweet deal right!) Well it's bank owned so we take it as is. Which means it needs a new roof, light fixtures, plumbing repairs, ALL new appliances. So by the time we get it livable we are probably looking at $133,000 home. I guess as is also means CASH only the banks won't finance us.

Sad story, but our rent really isn't that terrible and we can save for an actual down payment (which we currently don't have) Maybe we jumped the gun a little to quickly this time!! I'm afraid Jeremy's dream of a home built in 2000 for $50,000 just isn't going to come true in this life time :) Here's too the next economic crisis at which point maybe Jeremy and I will be in a situation where we can take advantage of all the great offers :)
